Your numbers
Change any assumption to update the estimate.
Zero-rated and exempt are not the same.
Both produce J$0 tax on this sale, but registration and input-tax treatment can differ. Confirm classification with TAJ.
Your result
Enter an amount to calculate GCT
The result will separate the price before tax, GCT, and the tax-inclusive total without sending the amount anywhere.
How this estimate works
The standard rate is 15 percent from 1 April 2020. On a J$10,000 price before tax, the tax is J$1,500 and the inclusive price is J$11,500.
To extract tax from J$11,500, divide by 1.15 to get the J$10,000 net price, then subtract it from the inclusive total.
Zero-rated and exempt supplies both show no output GCT here, but they have different consequences under the Act. The tool makes you choose instead of guessing from an item description.
Questions people ask
What is Jamaica's standard GCT rate?
The standard rate is 15 percent, effective 1 April 2020. Special rates and category rules still apply to some supplies.
How do I remove GCT from an inclusive price?
Divide the inclusive price by one plus the rate. At 15 percent, divide by 1.15. The difference between the inclusive and net prices is the GCT.
Are zero-rated and exempt the same?
No. Both can produce no output tax on the sale, but input-tax and registration treatment can differ. Confirm the category in the Act or with TAJ.
Does the calculator decide whether my item is taxable?
No. It calculates the treatment you select. It deliberately does not infer a legal tax category from a product or service name.
