Jamaica NHT contribution and refund planner

Estimate an NHT contribution, check the exact regular-refund year, and screen published contribution-history basics without guessing approval or refund value.

How this estimate works

Employee contributions use 2 percent of gross emoluments, with a separate 3 percent employer contribution. The ordinary employee path applies from age 18 until before retirement age 65. Resolved ordinary self-employed classes use 3 percent, two specified worker groups use 2 percent, and voluntary contributors use 3 percent of the applicable earnings basis.

For an ordinary regular refund, add eight to the contribution calendar year. A 2018 contribution first became open on 1 January 2026; a 2019 contribution first opens on 1 January 2027.

No refund amount is calculated. Current operational material and the published subsidiary-law file do not agree on the bonus or interest rate, and the actual payment also depends on NHT’s account record and prior credits. NHT publishes a 15-working-day processing target for a correctly submitted application.

The contribution-history screen checks only the published age, current-status, and route-specific history conditions. It deliberately says whether the entered facts pass those basics, never that a person is eligible or approved.

Questions people ask

Which NHT contribution year can I claim in 2026?

Regular refund applications are open for 2018 and earlier contribution years. The 2018 cycle opened on 1 January 2026.

Can JaRanks calculate my NHT refund amount?

No. Public sources conflict on the bonus or interest rate, and NHT must use its account record, prior refunds, and any loan credits. The planner only checks the year.

What NHT rate does an employee pay?

An ordinary liable employee contributes 2 percent of gross emoluments. The employer pays a separate 3 percent that is not the employee's refundable contribution.

Does passing the contribution-history screen mean I qualify for a loan?

No. It only checks a few published basics. NHT still decides record status, affordability, product rules, property conditions, documents, credit, insurance, and the amount available.
