Jamaica pay and tax calculator

Estimate annualized Jamaica take-home pay, PAYE, NIS, NHT, Education Tax, employer cost, and a second salary comparison for a verified rule period.

How this estimate works

For the verified period from 1 April 2026 through 31 March 2027, the annual personal allowance is J$1,902,360. PAYE is 25 percent on statutory income above the allowance through J$6 million and 30 percent above J$6 million.

Employee NIS is 3 percent up to J$5 million of annual insurable earnings. Employee NHT is 2 percent of gross emoluments. Employee Education Tax is 2.25 percent of statutory income after employee NIS and approved amounts entered.

On J$2.4 million annual gross with no pension or other adjustment, the audited vector is J$72,000 NIS, J$48,000 NHT, J$52,380 Education Tax, J$106,410 PAYE, and J$2,121,210 annualized net.

The employer view shows gross HEART before any eligible J$150 trainee-week credit because the calculator does not collect training records.

Questions people ask

What tax-free threshold does the calculator use?

For the verified 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 period it uses J$1,902,360 a year. The prior period uses J$1,799,376. The calculator blocks after the verified interval, and a scheduled 2027 amount is not selectable until a legal and TAJ refresh.

Why might my payslip differ?

Jamaican payroll withholding is cumulative and uses pay-period tables and rounding. Benefits, exemptions, pension limits, arrears, multiple jobs, and a threshold change during a calendar year can also change a live payroll result.

How is Education Tax calculated?

For the ordinary employee estimate it uses statutory income after employee NIS and the approved pre-tax amounts entered, at 2.25 percent for the employee and 3.5 percent for the employer.

When does HEART appear in employer cost?

HEART is included only when the total employer-wide monthly wage bill entered exceeds J$14,444. That threshold is about the whole employer, not one employee.
